Job Description

The John Rylands Library (JRL), houses the Special Collections Division of The John Rylands University Library at the University of Manchester. The JRL has world-renowned collections of printed books, manuscripts and archives and in addition to its continuing importance as a research library, the JRL is developing its role as a major cultural attraction.

As the Collection Research Support Manager (Printed Books) you will help to manage more than 100 collections of printed books which include the Spencer Collection with its outstanding incunabula. The successful applicant will have significant experience of working in a comparable Special Collections environment. You will also need to have a good honours degree in an appropriate subject, a professional qualification in librarianship or equivalent professional experience. Good communication skills are essential and you should also be experienced in computerised library/archive management systems.
